Men of the West: Time to pick up the Bible again, turn to the Old Testament, to Plato and Aristotle, Time to read again City of God, to revisit da Vinci and Copernicus, to stand with Luther at Wittenberg with Hammer, thesis and nails.

Start reading Bacon, and Locke, Kant and Camus. Remember the emergence of reason with Galileo from the prison of blind faith. Read the thoughts of Adam Smith, and understand wealth. Look at greatness and failures of the past with Gibbon. Read what Madison, Hamilton and Jay wrote, revisit Emerson and his pond. Like de Tocqueville, see America as a crowning Jewel of Western Civilization.

Read John Mill, Dickens and Tolstoy. Throw away your liberal education about nothing that stands for nothing. And see again with clear eyes the GREAT experiment, this sweeping vast panorama called Western Civilization.

Then tell me… is it worth nothing? That it is OK for savage men to come to its shores to gaze at its tall buildings with nothing but ignorance and hatred in their hearts? With minds like beasts, for us to laugh, to jest with them as we demean our own leaders?

The blood of all those that died on the torture stake to see this great culture established, to limit the divine right of kings, to apportion religion its place, and science to its sphere, that the whole man might mature in liberty, that is worth nothing?

My spirit and soul are in agony, not for the depredations of the barbarians and beasts at our door. But for the frothy arrogance and ignorance of the men that live in the luxury of a culture carved out of chaos, of blood shed on too many battlefields to count. And that the descendents of the Men that stood at Tours, or Vienna, can simply consider it all not worth defending, not worth the effort to even understand what it is that they are about to lose, for themselves and for their children.

Freedom goes only to those who consider it worth any price. Freedom is a jealous god, and if not worshiped by the souls of men, even to blood, freedom will leave the battlefield and cast its banner to the muddy and bloodless ground... let the Barbarian be your teacher and master for a thousand years, then see if you love freedom more than your lies.
